Meet the Local Governing Board: Kingsbury

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

From all Governors, WELCOME to the Kingsbury Academy Website.  We hope that you find all of the information presented clear and comprehensive.

The Academy Vision and Values, which we fully endorse, are detailed here. The Kingsbury Academy Local Governing Board (LGB) is the guardian of the school Vision. We are working with the Academy Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure that everything they do supports these values.

It is also our role to engage with the SLT to understand what is happening in the school in terms of pupil performance, development and wellbeing, the quality of teaching and learning and effective staff management. We will hold the school to account on behalf of the parents and the Trust.

We strongly consider that the voice of our Parents/Guardians is integral to becoming the school that we all want for the children.  We are working with the Kingsbury Fundraising and Community Group and the school to encourage positive engagement.  The website will help us all to keep in touch and stay informed.

The LGB is well represented by committed Co-opted, Parent, and Staff Governors. Many have extensive experience, and all are dedicated to continuously improving skills to be an effective governing body.

The Current Chair of the Local Governing Body is: John Darch

John Darch - Chair

I have spent most of my working life in Industry as a Senior Manager. I have been a Governor for 6 years. I've had involvement with young people in the past through sports coaching. I am fully committed to working with parents and staff to create a school environment in which everyone feels they belong and provide the very best for the children.

Donald Foulks - Governor

I am a Co-opted governor and also the current Vice Chair at Kingsbury Academy. I have served the school for 25 years which I have found very fulfilling.

My son Jack attended this school, he is now 32 years old, and I am very pleased with his achievements so far.

My full-time job involves being the Electrical Systems Director in an engineering firm which specialises in designing machinery for producing medical devices and pharmaceutical products.

Educationally I have a master’s in computer science and in my own time I enjoy cycling and hill walking.

Sean Byrne - Governor

Sean has been a Community Governor of Kingsbury Academy for 10 years.  Sean is a solicitor and has practised in Coventry for over 25 years.  He specialises in Company and Commercial law.   Sean believes that using the skills and knowledge that he has acquired as a solicitor over many years he can be of service to the community and to Kingsbury Academy.

Chris Nield - Governor

I have been a Governor in various schools for about 15 years, being a previous Chair at Kingsbury Academy.  For the last 30+ years my working life has been spent in Special Education, having a range of roles with Local Authority and NHS services, Independent and State specialist schools, as well as with learning support departments in colleges and universities. My particular interests and experience are with learners from ages 2-25 who have speech, language and communication needs, and the associated behaviour challenges which these may present.

Dale Ball - Parent Governor

I am really enjoying my role as parent governor at Kingsbury. I wanted to get involved because I am parent to a child and I want them to have the opportunity to thrive at Kingsbury. I am currently a HR Director working within the Education sector with over ten years experience working in HR.
