Visit to Corley

Kingsbury and Corley Academy have been working collaboratively to develop a shared understanding of Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction.
Kingsbury pupils received a very warm welcome at Corley School, where the children enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in Forest School. Sitting together around the fire pit, they toasted marshmallows and made their own s’mores by sandwiching them between two biscuits. A definite favourite for many!

The session highlighted the impact of clear instruction, modelling, questioning, and guided practice within an outdoor learning context.

The children also thoroughly enjoyed time relaxing in the hammocks, which was a real highlight of the visit. It was fantastic to see how engaged, confident and relaxed all the young people were throughout the experience. A memorable afternoon for everyone involved.

This joint approach has strengthened professional dialogue between the academies and reinforced a shared commitment to high-quality teaching and learning for all pupils.

This visit supported Article 31 (the right to relax and play), Article 24 (the right to health and wellbeing) and Article 15 (the right to meet with others and build friendships), as the children enjoyed positive relationships, outdoor play and experiences that promoted confidence and wellbeing.
