Helping the homeless stay warm this winter!

Pupils at Kingsbury Academy have been working together on a special whole school project to help people who are homeless this winter. Our whole school has been collecting used crisp packets, which will be turned into emergency blankets as guided by the team at the Crisp Packet Project.
The crisp packets are washed, dried and prepared by the Junior leadership team so they can be melted together to create strong, waterproof, heat-reflective blankets. These blankets help keep people warm during cold weather and show how everyday materials can be reused to support others.

Learners from all year groups have taken part. Many pupils brought in packets from home, whilst the JLT helped sort and clean them in school. It has been a great way to teach pupils about recycling, teamwork and kindness. The school community is proud to be helping such an important cause and are pleased to be helping many people stay safe in these cold conditions!
