Throughout the visit, pupils engaged in discussions with Audi staff, helping them develop confidence and communication skills. They also observed real car-repair processes, including tyre changes, gaining an understanding of the tools, techniques and safety procedures involved.

This experience helped raise aspirations by showing pupils the wide range of careers available within the automotive sector, from customer service, maintenance, mechanics and design. Pupils left inspired and excited about future possibilities.

The crisp packets are washed, dried and prepared by the Junior leadership team so they can be melted together to create strong, waterproof, heat-reflective blankets. These blankets help keep people warm during cold weather and show how everyday materials can be reused to support others.

Learners from all year groups have taken part. Many pupils brought in packets from home, whilst the JLT helped sort and clean them in school. It has been a great way to teach pupils about recycling, teamwork and kindness. The school community is proud to be helping such an important cause and are pleased to be helping many people stay safe in these cold conditions!

During the event, learners were treated to balloon animals, made by friendly entertainers. Everyone also received lovely gifts to take home, which made the day feel even more special.

The children had the chance to meet Santa, who listened to their wishes, greeted them and posed for photos. There was also lots of singing and dancing to classic rhymes and songs that many learners already knew and loved.

Staff said the event was a wonderful way to start the festive season, bringing smiles, laughter and happy memories to all who attended.

Pupils took part in nature walks, camp fire building and went on a scavenger hunt! One pupil from Kingsbury said ' I had the best time... we had marshmallows on fire' whilst another said 'The Corley boys helped me and I want to go to Corley when I am older'. 

Kingsbury teachers said the session offered valuable opportunities for personal growth, with many pupils trying new skills for the first time. We would like to thank all Corley staff for their efforts and hope to continue our partnership with Corley to provide more outdoor learning experiences in the future.

Throughout the week, pupils took part in activities designed to help them understand kind and unkind behaviours, while exploring the importance of friendship and what makes them happy. These discussions ensured that the message of anti-bullying remained meaningful and relevant to every learner.

Classes also enjoyed sharing stories such as Meesha Makes Friends and Walk Tall, both of which sparked great conversations and can be revisited at home to continue supporting pupils’ understanding of friendship and kindness.

We’re incredibly proud of how our pupils engaged with the process, making their voices heard and contributing to decisions that affect school life.

We look forward to the newly elected team’s first meeting, where they’ll begin planning exciting upcoming events, including Careers Day 2025 and our Christmas fundraising activities.

 We are incredibly grateful that you have been able to open up the world of work opportunities. Not only do our learners look forward to attending the session, but parental feedback has shown how learners are now more confident to navigate the store independently and communicate with others if they need assistance. 

A special thank you to Michelle Community Champion and Marie Team Manager, who have been exceptional and have supported our learners on their weekly visits.

One of the best things about our school is the wide range of cultures represented by our children, parents and staff, and we wanted to show off this amazing diversity with a full day of celebrations! On the day, pupils were invited to dress in cultural clothing or to wear a colour representing a flag of choice. Each class chose a country to base activities on and learners were transported to try different foods, listen and respond to music and engage with their peers. 

An amazing 20+ different languages are spoken by our pupils and their families at Kingsbury Academy and consist of a wide range of religions and belief systems which, we believe, make us a fun and culturally vibrant place.

Learners chose to support Charterhouse as they had visited previously as part of our schools Eco week and wanted more children to have the same opportunity! 

The sum raised was £200 and will be used to further support community initiatives that children can participate in during term time and the school holidays. 

As a gesture of kindness, National Trust staff organised a series of enjoyable activities for our pupils to experience, including rock painting, bubble making, and a scavenger hunt to uncover a secret code! 

A huge thank you to all the wonderful staff for providing such a memorable experience, and well done to all the learners for voting and supporting our local community.

Pupils showcased our delightful playground and Navkiran captured our Kingsbury spirit through recording some of our pupils playing, taking turns and interacting with one another. The recording is a live piece and truly captures the essence and nature of our learners, who may go off-piste but are confident, kind and keen to share their thoughts and opinions!

Eco Week was packed with exciting adventures and hands-on activities aimed at teaching students about nature and the environment.

In the classroom, all the learners got creative with a bird feeder design competition. Each class designed their own bird feeders to encourage wildlife to visit their school grounds. The Junior Leaders were tasked with choosing their favourite bird feeders, and the winning designs were celebrated with a special class party, featuring a delicious Caterpillar Cake treat for everyone to enjoy.

Pupils from the JLT designed our Kingsbury Eco-Code and have been ensuring everyone in the school is abiding by the code!

The creativity and effort of all the learners was amazing, it’s wonderful to see the children so engaged in eco-friendly activities and learning more about how they can help the environment.

Eco Week was an incredible success, with learners not only learning about the importance of nature and wildlife but also having a lot of fun in the process. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the week so memorable!

Learners had a wonderful time exploring the grounds of Spencers retreat. Spencer's Retreat Farm is a care farm in Berkswell, offering a safe and inclusive space for families with children with SEND and those experiencing mental health difficulties.

As part of Eco Week, learners had the opportunity to learn about the animals in our environment and how we care for them. They began their learning within the classroom as they engaged in a range of activities to build and deepen this knowledge, but nothing is better than concrete experiences!

So, meeting the animals was definitely the highlight of this learning! Pupils interacted with sheep, lambs, goats and kids, piglets, horses and a variety of poultry, ducks and geese. The emphasis was on touching and interacting with the animals to build confidence and awareness.

As pictured, one of our pupils developed her confidence and was engaged with all aspects of working on the farm, including feeding and ground maintenance. 

Pupils also had the opportunity to explore the Forest School area, foraging the grounds to build dens and find the minibeasts!

Pupils particularly enjoyed the mesmerising jellyfish tank and the beautiful clownfish swimming above and below them in the ocean tunnel! As you can see by their facial expressions, it was a delightful visit and learners were able to generalise their learning by experiencing creatures first-hand. 

Learners could also focus on skills, including road safety and interacting with others, including asking questions and navigating. 

Throughout the day, pupils engaged in a range of exciting activities related to the World Book Day theme "Read Your Own Way", from creating their own book covers to choosing their favourite books to read together.

  It was lovely to see the effort the whole school made to make this day really special and celebrate reading in such a fun way!

As part of a generous initiative to celebrate mothers, Tesco Community Champion Michelle Walsh and Marie O'Donnell, Team Manager at the Coventry Ricoh Tesco, partnered with Kingsbury Academy learners on a special campaign to make Mother’s Day even more memorable for pupils and their families.

Pupils eagerly designed their own plant pots and planted daffodil bulbs, which they have been carefully tending to in preparation for Mothering Sunday.

Reflecting on the experience, one pupil shared, "It was fun and a special surprise for mummy!" Another young learner added, "I love my flower it will grow so tall, I hope mummy loves it too!"

Throughout the weeks, they have assisted with restocking items, checking product dates, and scanning products. Additionally, they supported Tesco's Food Bank initiative by collecting and sorting donation items, ensuring they were ready for distribution. Learners also shopped for ingredients to be used in our Food Skills lessons, further enhancing their practical knowledge and independence.

This week, learners were immersed in celebrating and learning about Chinese New Year through a range of sessions, including My Creativity, Maths, and Story-time.

During My Creativity, learners designed snakes to recognise the Year of the Snake and created Play-Doh models! They also worked together to collaboratively design a Chinese dragon, showcasing their teamwork and creativity.

Learners also tried using chopsticks to work on fine motor skills and mark making within rice.

The festivities continued during music, where pupils explored and danced to the rhythm of traditional Chinese music.

Exploring celebrations from around the world is important for us at Kingsbury and ensures pupils receive an understanding of the world around them in a way that is accessible to all.

The funds raised will be donated to Charterhouse, a National Trust site, to support our environmental initiatives.

On Friday, pupils had an unforgettable Careers Day, filled with inspiring activities and hands-on experiences that brought the theme of “People Who Help Us in Our Community” to life. The event was packed with engaging opportunities, including a visit to Little Lane Role Play Village, encounters with real-life heroes, and plenty of imaginative fun.

The day began with a trip to Little Lane Role Play Village, where the children stepped into the shoes of various professionals. From doctors and chefs to shopkeepers and mechanics, the interactive setup allowed students to explore different roles and imagine themselves in future careers. The immersive environment sparked creativity and excitement, with many children sharing their newfound aspirations.

Back at school, pupils participated in activities centred around community helpers. A highlight of the morning was a visit from the local fire department. The children were thrilled to see a real fire engine parked on the school grounds, and the firefighters gave a live demonstration of their equipment. A special moment for many was getting to use the powerful hose under the firefighters' guidance.

The excitement didn’t end there—officers from the West Midlands Police stopped by, bringing along uniforms and equipment for the children to try on. Wide smiles and enthusiastic giggles filled the room as students posed as mini-police officers. The interactive session also included stories about the daily duties of police officers and the importance of keeping our communities safe.

In the afternoon, the school welcomed a surprise guest: Blade, the mascot of the Air Ambulance Service. Blade's visit brought an air of adventure and wonder as the mascot explained the vital role air ambulances play in saving lives. The children were captivated and asked thoughtful questions about Blade’s work.

To add a personal touch to the day, every child came dressed as who they aspire to be when they grow up. 

Careers Day was a resounding success, inspiring the students of 1A and the whole school to learn more about the roles that make our communities thrive. It was a memorable day that not only educated but also empowered children to dream big!

During the visit, pupils explored the extensive showroom and learnt how friendly sales teams help customers find their dream vehicles. They also get to peek behind the scenes in the service area, where skilled mechanics use special tools and technology to keep the cars running smoothly and to repair any vehicles. This hands-on experience introduces pupils to different jobs, sparks curiosity about how things work, and may even inspire dreams of future careers in the automotive industry.

This week, Spencer’s Retreat welcomed a group of enthusiastic pupils for a hands-on educational visit designed to introduce them to the responsibilities of animal care and environmental stewardship. The retreat, known for its nurturing setting and dedication to conservation, provided a unique opportunity for young learners to explore diverse job roles while fostering an appreciation for the environment.

During the visit, pupils participated in various activities, including feeding farm animals, cleaning enclosures, and learning about the daily responsibilities of caretakers. Under the guidance of staff, the children followed step-by-step instructions, such as preparing food for animals and generalising their skills taught in school to access the community. 

Recognising the characters' actions and exploring the themes of morality and behaviour. The pupils, some of whom have never been to the theatre, thoroughly enjoyed the experience and parental feedback mentioned ‘ My son really enjoys these visits and is so excited about coming home and telling me about the day he has had at school’.

This year, Kingsbury Academy proudly took part by hosting a Pudsey Biscuit Decorating and Dress-Up Day. On Friday, 15th November, children and staff joined in the fun by wearing something yellow or spotty to mark the occasion. As demonstrated, learners were delighted with having their faces painted and creating Pudsey-themed arts and crafts throughout the afternoon!

Pupils within the Aspire pathway engaged in activities related to self awareness and mindfulness throughout the week. Within the Inspire pathway and, across the Junior Leadership team, we talked about how lucky we are to live in a diverse country and world and reflected on how our differences should never be a reason to treat another person negatively or unkindly. 

Our Sports coach, Karabo, praised their teamwork, sportsmanship, and the way they supported each other and the opposition.

A big thank you to Sporty Minds for hosting such a fantastic event. We eagerly anticipate our next fixture!

These clubs also provide pupils with the opportunity to learn something new or further develop their talents in the remit of the arts.  Club activities are selected based on choices and votes from the Junior Leadership team.

Regular clubs include: Sports (Target games), Rhythmic gym, Computer club and Craft Club. 

Through this hands-on initiative, learners are not only enhancing their culinary skills but also develop valuable entrepreneurial skills. They are involved in every step of the process, from planning and cooking to packaging and marketing products. This project allows them to gain practical insights into work operations, teamwork, and customer service, all while promoting creativity and confidence. 

We want to say a huge thank you to all the teachers, coaches, and especially the young leaders from local secondary schools, who helped run the activities and assisted the schools. Their support made sure everyone had a brilliant time, and all the pupils got to try out different sports in a friendly and inclusive environment.

The pupils enjoyed a range of games including Boccia, table games, table cricket, curling and boules. Pupils demonstrate generalisation of the skills they have been taught within physical development, as this half-term focus has been games. Further skills include turn taking, problem-solving and developing communication skills - particularly when engaging with pupils from 10 other schools in Coventry. Well done Kingsbury Academy!

This wonderful gift has filled our hearts with warmth and our faces with smiles, bringing an extra dose of sweetness to our Easter celebrations.

As we prepare to embark on egg-citing Easter egg hunts and indulge in delicious chocolate treats, we are reminded of the importance of community and coming together to spread joy and happiness. The generosity of Kautex has made our Easter celebrations nothing short of magical, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Excitement filled the air at Kingsbury Academy this week as students embraced the spirit of environmental conservation during the much-anticipated Eco Week celebrations. With a flurry of green-themed activities and initiatives, Eco Week served as a rallying cry for our youngest learners to become stewards of the planet.

Hands-on learning took centre stage throughout the week, with learners rolling up their sleeves to get involved in various eco-friendly projects. From planting trees with the National trust, to planting in class and reading stories like 'Clean up!' by Nathan Byron. Learners also made some fantastic bird feeders and bug hotels for all of the insects and minibeasts of Coventry to attend. 

One of the highlights of Eco Week was the "Rubbish to Reuse" challenge, where learners in KS1 collected, matched and sorted recyclable materials including crisp packets. That were then donated to a local collector in Coventry who uses the crisp packets to make foil blankets for the homeless. 

Furthermore, Eco Week equips learners with a sense of responsibility and empowerment, empowering them to take action both at school and beyond. Through initiatives such as litter clean-up and bug hotel competitions, learners are actively engaged in efforts to promote a cleaner, greener environment. By instilling a sense of ownership and pride in their surroundings, Eco Week empowered learners to become advocates for positive change.
